Beautiful location for our 4 day long family reunion! The shelter was a wonderful place to gather and enjoy each other's company as it rained. Lots of space to pitch tents with good tree cover for shade and hammocks. The river was fun to play in and explore. When we arrived, the water pump was not working, but there was a tank of potable water provided for our use. The camp host had the water pump fixed by the end of our stay. The camp host was very kind and friendly. He checked in to make certain we had everything we needed and kept the bathrooms stocked. Volleyball net provided, along with horseshoes for the horseshoe pit. Lots of tables and benches around, but the weather kept us mostly in the shelter. Close to other great sites on the mountain that we could visit--lots of hiking trails, the Medicine Wheel, Shell Falls, etc--then return to our base camp. There is bear-proof trash receptacles and a bear-proof storage box available for use on site as well. We tried to keep the gates closed as much as possible because lots of vehicles kept pulling into the parking lot, then turning around and leaving. The site is just off US 14, so you can hear and see the highway traffic. We did have deer visit camp and saw moose just a little way down river. Lots of small wildlife were around as well.

Private party use of facilities is awesome. It is nice to only have to deal with those with whom we are camping. Nice to see wildlife: a bear, cow and bull moose, etc. The building is also very nice to have cover during the afternoon showers.

Hosted a celebration of life party for our dad, Site was clean and and the camp host picked up trash and cleaned bathrooms twice a day for us.
Pine island was the perfect venue to celebrate and arrowhead was so close for people to reserve RV parking, cabins, and rooms for our two day party.

The only thing I recommend is that you have extra black garbage bags for the trash in the eating area. We filled the trash up and emptied it every night to avoid any bears coming into the area. The camp tender did not supply the bag for that trash can.
