About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

Had a good time at this campground and everything was clean and well maintained. Checking in was difficult since there was no one to actually help. You have to book online, which was easy however when we showed up someone was already in our assigned campsite. We tried to go back to the entrance for assistance but no one was around. I understand it was late (11pm) but it would have been nice to even have a phone number to call for guidance. Instead we just found an empty site and setup for the night.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at this campground. The location was fantastic for visiting both the Grand Teton National Park and the Jackson Town Square. The campsite had a nice view toward the mountains, was flat and easy to park.

Very spacious, excellent campground.

Great nightly program at the amphitheater. We learned a lot of great history of the area while attending the program.

We like that there were options for electrical hookups. Thank you for having us!

Great campground, hosts were organized and efficient during the check in process. This campsite isn't to far from the restroom. You can hear the water from nearby creeks from this site. Campfire ring does have a grill grate.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
