About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

We were pleasantly surprised by the space between campsites. Some National Park campgrounds have the sites almost on top of each other. It was nice to have a few trees and nice space to spread out a bit on our site. The bathrooms and campground were clean and campground hosts were super helpful and friendly. We had a great week!

This is a beautiful campground. The bathrooms were clean and we thought the staff were friendly. We got animal updates at check abd were told a wolf pack lives nearby and we were told about other animals that had passed through the campgrounds recently. We heard wolves howling at dusk and thought it was magical. Lots of campers but we thought it was very quiet at night. Only complaint is that we were only able to stay one night!

This campground is a perfect Middle ground between the park and Jackson! We really loved our time at the campground. Wish there was maybe one more way down to the river on our side of the campground but other than that our time there was wonderful. The host checking Us in were so kind and helpful!

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
