About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

105B has trees that provided some shade. It's a close distance to the restrooms with flush toilet s. Not a large site but perfect for our 16-ft camper. This site backs up to open space which was nice. Campground clean and peaceful, a great home base to check out the Tetons National Park.

We had 4 very enjoyable nights at Gros Ventre. Checkin was quick & easy, staff were outside and came up to our vehicle ready to check us in quickly and direct us to our site (a first!) A loop allows generators but we only heard a few here & there in the late afternoons. Overall very quiet. Neighbors within sight but nice distance away. Our site was long enough for our 25’ MH and we squeezed our Jeep beside the cab. We did not sit outside much because of some annoying flies but overall site & camp were great. Bathrooms clean. We found Gros Ventre to be conveniently located to all the places everyone goes. And with America the Beautiful price is great. Some sites along the outside of loop A (higher #s) had direct line of sight to the Tetons!

The location of Gros Ventre is close to the city of Jackson and well-positioned for touring in the park.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
