About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

The hosts at Gros Ventre Campground were welcoming, kind, and helpful! They communicated expectations clearly and professionally upon check in, and were able to answer all questions throughout our stay. They were delightful to chat with and had great recommendations for the park and the town of Jackson. The bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. This is a large campground, however all campers seemed to respect the campground and its rules. Would definitely stay again!

The workers were wonderful and kind. The views were magnificent. The dump stations need updated. We were told that is planned for the future. We were at an end site by the road and had several people using our site-right by our RV-for a cut through. This is not the campgrounds fault but just an etiquette that needs to be taught.

Great place to stay in Grand Teton NP, located in the South of the park and just a few minutes away from the famous barns. In case you care and have the chance to decide between the loops, keep in mind that some allow generator use.

The check in process was quick and simple. The gentlemen who greeted us was funny and "quizzed" us on how to say the name of the campground. Do your research if you want to impress the campground staff. The camp ground name is not pronounced as it sounds! HAHA

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
