About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

This campground is very well done and very well run! Highly recommended to everyone. It’s in a beautiful convenient area of Jackson Hole. It’s right around the corner from Grand Teton national Park. Definitely hit that up.

Yes, it’s a big campground with many sites. However, plenty of trees allow for adequate separation and privacy.

great campground. Hosts were nice and ready to talk as soon as you arrived. They sold firewood there. This spot is right across from flush toilets so lots of people walking by. Light of the bathroom is kind of bright, you can maybe block it with your car. Access to the river right across from the site, we heard moose talking all night but did not see any, eerie sound. Not too buggy but near a stream so bug spray is a must

Nice clean campground with helpful staff. We really enjoyed camping so close to the Gros Ventre river. From the campground we had great views of the mountains. We were in loop A site 65 I believe. No one behind us....just the river. I caught a couple of trout and we enjoyed seeing a moose close by the river and deer. No bears but we were always prepared with bear spray. We would definitely stay here again. Bathrooms were clean and you could get water.

Beautiful campground with flat ground. Pretty rocky though. The only thing that would make it a five star campground would be showers onsite.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
