About Signal Mountain Campground

The Signal Mountain Campground is centrally located inside Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) and provides a convenient basecamp for accessing all the park has to offer. This 80-site campground is located adjacent to Signal Mountain Lodge which provides many amenities you might need for your National Park adventures. The campground sits on the southeast shore of Jackson Lake, and offers easy access to the lake waters and short walks to unparalleled views of the Teton Range. The area is frequented by various park wildlife, large and small, as well as a variety of bird species. The Signal Mountain Campground is normally one of the first campgrounds to open and last to close in the park, and can often have lingering snowpack during the opening weeks after heavy winters and possible early wintery weather at the end of the season. Due to the variability of weather in the Tetons, visitors should come prepared, especially during the months of May and October.

A nice quiet campground, close to Jackson Lake. Close to lots of our favorite places in Grand Teton NP. The Signal Mountain Lodge areas near the campground has a gas station, small grocery store, and restaurants. Close to the Snake River Oxbow, Elk Flats, and Jenny Lake. I am sure we will be back to this campground in the next few years. The access loop roads are narrow but adequate, Fairly dense tree cover made solar charging on our travel trailer difficult. There is a public boat ramp just south of the campground.

Signal Mountain was a very stressful camping experience for us. We don’t travel with a toilet, so it is important for us to choose a site near the bathroom for those midnight walks. The campground map showed our site, #30, to be right next to the bathroom. The reality was that we needed to walk down a very steep, narrow path through the woods. We were grateful that it didn’t rain, which would have made it even more treacherous. We ended up leaving a day early.

I really liked this campground. Quiet and private. I had a great spot and I could walk about 20 yards through woods to the lake. I would stay here again.

Nicely wooded, but spots can be tight. No issue with my van, but I saw a few trailers struggling a bit to manage navigating the road, backing in, and fitting their trailer and vehicle... so be sure to get a spot that accommodates your equipment length. I would really suggest against doing a "close enough" decision. Even at the office/check in, there is very little space to park and not block the road or other vehicles.

This was a very nice campground with good privacy, nice restrooms, easy access to sites via vehicle, friendly staff, fire rings and picnic tables. It is not as quiet and primitive as much of the area but nice. The Lodge near by is flooded with families and folks all over the place enjoying beers, swimming and carrying on. Fun, but that side of the campground area is much different depending on what you like. Good spot. I would stay again.

Great place to stay in the park if you want to be near all the best sites! We were in site 29 and had enough space to park our 20 ft camper and our Tacoma right next to it. Getting out took some maneuvering and I’m not sure how we would’ve done it if there was someone staying in the site in front of us, as we had to pull in there to back up to the camper. Other than that, the views were great, the lodge had everything you could need, and the campground was quiet and clean. We would certainly stay here again.
