Oh man, these razers(ATV) with no muffles drove around fri evening, the worst was the residents at Penelope Street (not sure camp hosts?) Decided to wake entire camp area roaring out through the area throttle wide open and very loud. Boo.

The online portal differs from the signs posted onsite as to whether the site is reservable or not

We love this campground. I have a problem with the reservation system though. We always try to get site # 6. It was booked solid this time. The sad part is the 4 days we were there no one showed up to claim that site. I think if someone does not show up the first day, the site should be open to the first come first serve. In fact no one else showed up for their reservations, and when I had booked all the sites close to the water were taken. We were the only ones camping in the whole campground for 2 nights! Then 1 couple showed up.

Lovely campground right on beautiful Halfmoon Lake. The sites were large and well spaced. It was nice being able to walk to the lake or down to the boat launch area in the evenings.

Fantadstic camping spot. Only thing stopping us from giving it 5 stars were the campers running their generator 24hrs a day. For 3 days in a row!

The toilets did not get cleaned The whole time we were there. The seat and pedestal were pretty gross. So was the floor. In past years the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. I’m disabled and the grab bars felt yucky too. I understand it’s a vaulted toilet in a campground and not much can be done about the smell. I do feel the cleaning of human waist and fluids from the toilet like years past isn’t too much to ask for at the cost of the spots per night. They did keep any trash picked up in the bathrooms. I never saw trash, so I assume they were picking it up. The toilet paper was always stocked. The Forest Service employees were very helpful solving any problems we had.

Thank you.

Love Half Moon Campground, just wish Rangers would enforce the rules, there were 2 to 3 campers, vehicles, and tents, in all reserved spots, way to many people and restrooms were overused.

Beautiful location yet the campground was a train wreck. Our site had half a dozen piles of toilet paper and human waste. There was a large mob from Utah. There was a woman with a a white Cadillac and Utah plates holding about half of the come first serve sites. They sat unused for at least 3 days. There were young kids riding motorcycles around the loop. And an old man who piled a bunch of little kids on his ATV and gave rides around the campground loop until 9 or 10 at night. Generators ran 24hours day and night without regard for neighbors. I respect the Forest Service employees and they do what they can. This beautiful campground has been decimated by inconsiderate campers. It needs a campground host and a cleaning crew and the rules need to be enforced, especially about holding sites.
