What Guests Are Saying

Island Park Campground offers a cozy, rustic experience by a beautiful creek, with frequent moose sightings enhancing its charm. The campground is well-maintained, and host Deb Archer receives high praise for her friendliness and helpfulness. While some visitors noted traffic and bathroom usage by non-campers, the overall atmosphere is inviting and perfect for enjoying nature.

Camp host Les was courteous and helpful.
I was pleased to find how clean he keeps the camp, including the toilets.
He even waxes the picnic tables!
Given that he manages three camps in this way, he certainly deserves a hefty raise of salary.

This campground is nice because there are very few spots (~10?) so there aren't as many people at camp. However, it is close to a gravel road that is pretty busy so it can be very dusty. The camp host was friendly. Unfortunately, there were 6 dogs in the campground without leashes during our stay, Two of them belonged to the camp host. One of his dogs was older and didn't stray far from his site but the other younger dog always ran across the road and frequently meandered into other camp sites. Four of the other dogs belonged to other campers. Two of the dogs growled at us when walking thru the campsite. We had to chase off 3 of the dogs that came into our campsite. This is a recipe for disaster, there are leash laws in campsites for a reason. If you don't want to have your dogs on a leash you should choose dispersed camping sites and not state park campgrounds. Shame on the camp host for not enforcing leash laws.

This smaller camp site is wonderful. Our site was right next to the creek with views to the east. The entire campsite is quieter than most others in this area given its distance from the highway with the only passing traffic being to and from West Tensleep lake area. We did see a moose and some deer near the campsite. Fishing was not bad given the low flow of the creek. We will camp at Island Park again.

Les was a fantastic Camp host, he helped us out so much. When we got there the camp site was not big enough for our camper according to our reservations made on line. He found us a site that would fit our equipment.
