We seen moose at our campsite. Number 9 is our favorite. Plenty of running room for the grandkids.

Nice campground. Sites are spaced far apart. Next to Highway 14, so highway noise is more evident on the sides of both loops that are closer to the highway. We did not hear it on the mountain side of the loop, but we had a hard sided trailer while our friends had pop up trailers. There were lots of moose in the area. Had a cow/calf pair walk through camp twice and a bull once. Saw the bull again the next day while on a walk beside Prune Creek. Was able to avoid him by walking up the side of the hill next to the trail as he decided that he would lay down in the middle of the trail! Bathrooms were clean as were the campsites. Lots of tall lodgepole pine trees, so shade was always available.

Bring warm layers, even in mid August, nighttime temps can drop to freezing. Chilly mornings with warm afternoons.

It was great, however I don't agree with the 14 day camping limit. people pull in and set up their summer camp, therefor there is not places for everybody to camp. I think it should be cut back to at a max 7 days so that every one can enjoy the great outdoors.

Prune Creek is accessible via Hwy 14, which connects to US Highway 87 approximately 20 miles to the west.

Site capacity
- Groups over 20 must use designated Day Use facilities for camping.
