The campground is in a dry part of Yellowstone, with more of a dessert feel, and you can see other campers and tents around. It is pleasant, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed it.

We enjoyed our stay at Mammoth, the camp hosts were very friendly and even helped fill our tent trailer water tank from their site when our tap couldn’t fit the hose. Gardiner is only 5 miles away and we enjoyed a good meal at Wonderland Cafe. The campground is very close to the Mammoth Hot springs so we were able to explore the upper and lower areas later in the evening with less crowds. After our stay we drove the upper loop to Tower Falls across the Dunraven Pass with no problems.

Campground hosts failing to maintain bear safety regulations. Large amounts of wildlife attractants available throughout campground including when everyone is aslepp- this includes food preparation gear, coolers stacked OUTSIDE bear boxes, and more. I am following up with regional officials to stop the sloopy management of these campgrounds before someone is killed and a bear has to be destroyed.

Beautiful campground with easy walking access to Mammoth village and Fort Yellowstone from the amphitheater area. Wildlife viewing and v clean bathrooms (not vault toilets!) a plus. Sites are small but well designed so you don’t feel like you’re right on top of your neighbor site, which was nice in the busy season with full sites. The generator free times were appreciated by us tent campers!

Beautiful views of the valley at every site. Host was very friendly and helpful at check-in. Site was clean, level, and the nearby bathhouses were nicer than I’ve seen in similar campgrounds. Would absolutely camp here again.

We love national park campgrounds. We wish those with reservations they cannot make would cancel rather than just not show up, so those waiting for a site could get one. Each campground we have stayed at has had 5-7 no shows which were not cancelled so the site could not be used by someone else. We wish there was some way you’d give away sites that no on shows up to. Other than that, Mammoth was one of our favorites. Thank you.

This campground is really convenient because of its proximity to the Mammoth hot springs. It also looks out over a really beautiful valley. However, the tree coverage isn't great during hot summer days. It's also not really a secluded campground, so if you're looking for a campground that feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, you may not want to choose this campground. That being said, the bathrooms are great, the views are beautiful, wildlife is nearby, and the camping spaces include plenty of space. We enjoyed our time here.

General
- Mammoth Campground is managed by the park. If you are looking for campgrounds managed by Yellowstone National Park Lodges (Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay, Canyon, Madison, and Grant Village campgrounds), please visit the Yellowstone National Park Lodges Camping website.
- RV or Camper Unit Delivery Prohibited. The delivery or pick-up of out-of-park RVs or other camper unit rentals is prohibited.
- Notify the Campground of Late Arrivals. To notify campground of late arrival or cancellation please call 307-344-2289
- Parking. All wheeled vehicles including trailers and motorcycles must be parked on parking pads or established roadways, so as not to block or restrict traffic in campgrounds.
- Camping Occupancy Limits. Maximum occupancy is six people per site. Camp only in designated sites. Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day and to 30 days the rest of the year parkwide. The 44 day camping limit includes both concession- and park-operated campgrounds.
- Wildlife/Bear Regulations. ~Keep all food and related items - beverages, cooking utensils, stoves, pet food and, empty or full, food and beverage containers such as coolers, ice chests, and water jugs - locked inside your vehicle or stored in a food storage box, unless in immediate use. Bear resistant food containers must be kept in a vehicle, in a hard-sided camping unit, or in a food storage box. ~All trash and garbage must be disposed of in the provided bear-proof trash cans. Do not leave food related trash or garbage unattended. ~Washing dishes or clothing at campground hydrants or spigots is prohibited. Carry all dishwater/wastewater to the restroom toilet for disposal.
- Campfires and Firewood. Wood and charcoal fires are permitted. Campfires are permitted only in established fire grates. Fires must be attended at all times. Only dead, down, and detached wood may be gathered. Wood should not extend outside the fire grate perimeter. Do not break limbs off of standing trees, living or dead. Drown campfires thoroughly with water to make sure they are completely out. NOTE: Wood and charcoal fires may be subject to special restrictions due to fire danger. Restrictions will be listed on campground information boards and on the park's Current Conditions page. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions.
- Quiet hours are strictly enforced. No loud audio devices or other noise disturbances will be allowed during this time. Generators are prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Generators must be turned off durng the day when campsite is not occupied by site renter.
- Stay on Boardwalks and Trails. All travel in thermal areas is restricted to NPS designated trails and boardwalks.
- Fishing. To fish within the park, people 16 years of age and older are required to purchase and carry on their person a Yellowstone National Park Fishing Permit (you may purchase in advance). To learn more about fishing regulations, visit the park's Catch a Fish web page.
- 30 ft RV limit. From November through April.
