The campground was well maintained, had very friendly staff and is conveniently located near Mammoth Hot Springs. The sites are well spaced and offer easy access to restrooms and water. No more than 5 minutes by car or a 15 minute walk up the trail provides access to hot springs attractions, museums, dining and gift shops.

This was an amazing campground. Nice sites, good facilities, really nice clean bathrooms some of the nicest I’ve seen at a campground. Great campground hosts who were very present during our stay. Lovely views and great proximity to the north part of Yellowstone as well.

My family and I spent two nights at the Mammoth Campground in late August, and it was a highlight of our Yellowstone/Grand Teton vacation. The campground is nestled on a slope, surrounded on all sides by mountains, which makes for breathtaking scenery. Even with dry, grassy fields, the evenings were magical as the setting sun cast shadows from the peaks across the campsite.
We were very impressed with the facilities. It's reasonably priced, and the flush toilets and numerous water taps were a welcome convenience. The location is also perfect, being just a short distance from the Mammoth village for supplies and the visitor center.
We also stayed at Lewis Lake and Lizard Creek, but my wife agreed that Mammoth was the best of the trip for its combination of views, amenities, and accessibility. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. Five stars

46 has a good view. No tent pad, so I put my tent in the driveway which worked fine. This campground is always clean and quiet except for the dirt trucks starting up before sunrise due to construction.

I stayed at 4 different campgrounds in Yellowstone, Mammoth was the most basic one, it covered my needs to have a place to set a tent for the night, but it has no showers and no place to rinse dishes. There's also not many trees in the campground so expect little privacy and lots of sun exposure

Mammoth Campground was a great location for our Yellowstone visit. Starting about 7 am took us to the Old Faithful area with no traffic slowdowns (and with a mama black bear and her cub ambling across the road just for us). Going toward the NE entrance through the Lammar Valley brought tons of buffalo, close but a comfortable distance away--babies nursing, bulls pawing and bellowing to win cows. It was a great location, and just 5 miles from restaurants in Gardiner when we wanted dinner out.

Policies & Rules
General
- Mammoth Campground is managed by the park. If you are looking for campgrounds managed by Yellowstone National Park Lodges (Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay, Canyon, Madison, and Grant Village campgrounds), please visit the Yellowstone National Park Lodges Camping website.
- RV or Camper Unit Delivery Prohibited. The delivery or pick-up of out-of-park RVs or other camper unit rentals is prohibited.
- Notify the Campground of Late Arrivals. To notify campground of late arrival or cancellation please call 307-344-2289
- Parking. All wheeled vehicles including trailers and motorcycles must be parked on parking pads or established roadways, so as not to block or restrict traffic in campgrounds.
- Camping Occupancy Limits. Maximum occupancy is six people per site. Camp only in designated sites. Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day and to 30 days the rest of the year parkwide. The 44 day camping limit includes both concession- and park-operated campgrounds.
- Wildlife/Bear Regulations. ~Keep all food and related items - beverages, cooking utensils, stoves, pet food and, empty or full, food and beverage containers such as coolers, ice chests, and water jugs - locked inside your vehicle or stored in a food storage box, unless in immediate use. Bear resistant food containers must be kept in a vehicle, in a hard-sided camping unit, or in a food storage box. ~All trash and garbage must be disposed of in the provided bear-proof trash cans. Do not leave food related trash or garbage unattended. ~Washing dishes or clothing at campground hydrants or spigots is prohibited. Carry all dishwater/wastewater to the restroom toilet for disposal.
- Campfires and Firewood. Wood and charcoal fires are permitted. Campfires are permitted only in established fire grates. Fires must be attended at all times. Only dead, down, and detached wood may be gathered. Wood should not extend outside the fire grate perimeter. Do not break limbs off of standing trees, living or dead. Drown campfires thoroughly with water to make sure they are completely out. NOTE: Wood and charcoal fires may be subject to special restrictions due to fire danger. Restrictions will be listed on campground information boards and on the park's Current Conditions page. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions.
- Quiet hours are strictly enforced. No loud audio devices or other noise disturbances will be allowed during this time. Generators are prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Generators must be turned off durng the day when campsite is not occupied by site renter.
- Stay on Boardwalks and Trails. All travel in thermal areas is restricted to NPS designated trails and boardwalks.
- Fishing. To fish within the park, people 16 years of age and older are required to purchase and carry on their person a Yellowstone National Park Fishing Permit (you may purchase in advance). To learn more about fishing regulations, visit the park's Catch a Fish web page.
- 30 ft RV limit. From November through April.
