How to cancel a booking?

We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel your reservation, you can do so directly from your OutReserve account. Just be aware that refund amounts depend on your host's cancellation policy and how far in advance you cancel.

How to cancel your booking

To cancel a reservation:

1. Log in to your OutReserve account
2. Go to My Trips and select the booking you want to cancel
3. Click Cancel reservation
4. Review the cancellation details, including any refund amount
5. Confirm your cancellation

You'll receive a confirmation email once the cancellation is complete. Your host will also be notified automatically.

Understanding your refund

The refund you receive depends on your host's cancellation policy, which was displayed when you booked. Common policy types include:

• Flexible: Full refund up to 24 hours before check-in
• Moderate: Full refund up to 5 days before check-in
• Strict: 50% refund up to 7 days before check-in, no refund after that

Service fees are generally refundable if you cancel before check-in, but the host payout follows their specific policy. You can review your booking's policy details before confirming the cancellation.

Important things to know

Timing matters: The earlier you cancel, the more likely you are to receive a higher refund. Last-minute cancellations typically result in reduced or no refunds.

Partial stays: If you've already checked in, cancellation policies usually don't apply—you'll be charged for the nights you've stayed plus any remaining nights per the policy.

Extenuating circumstances: In rare cases involving emergencies or unexpected events outside your control, you may be eligible for an exception to the standard policy. Contact our support team to discuss your situation.

Host communication: While not required, reaching out to your host before canceling can sometimes lead to alternative solutions, like rescheduling your stay.
