What Guests Are Saying
Pickensville Campground offers spacious, well-maintained sites with a beautiful riverside view, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and outdoor activities like biking. The campground is noted for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and peaceful atmosphere, with many guests expressing a desire to return. While some facilities, like certain bathrooms, show signs of age and there are limited full hookups, ongoing improvements are being made to enhance the overall experience.

My wife and I stayed on site 120 which is a river site with full hook-ups. We had two other campers with us on 119 and 121. Site are level with fire pit, grill and picnic table, and additional table for whatever you want to use it for. There are many different sites also on the river front that does not have sewer but have better views of the river. Most sites are shady, but one of our campers had satellite and one able to get signals. We had OTA and you can get 6-14 stations from Bham and Columbus MS. Barges travel the channel 2-4 per day so it is nice to see them go up and down the river. We also had some really big boats go by. If you like bicycle riding or walking the campground is very level with plenty of riding in the campground. You can ride by boat to the lock to see the lock and watch barges go thru the lock. It is slightly less than three miles from the entrance to the campground to the lock and it is entirely level ride. There is a lake inside the campground that has catfish, bream , and even some crappie in it. You can also fish from the river bank. There is a boat launch in the campground and plenty of room to park your boat. Aliceville is 10 miles from the campground and Columbus MS is 20 miles which has anything you want and some good things to see. A new Dollar General is about 2-3 miles from the campground in Pickensville. Be sure to go see the Tom Bevill Visitor Center and Alabama Skag Boat if they are open (COVID). A visit to the Old Country Bakery, run by Mennonites, in Brooksville MS is a must do. They have a great Taco Salad for lunch and all kinds of delicious cakes, pies and breads. Cinnamon rolls and banana nut breads are great.

First time utilizing pull through. Also gave us one of the fewer sewer hookups. Sites are clean, crushed rock picnic pads are well maintained. Barges passing by so close were a treat. Lock and dam was close by as well. Love these COE campgrounds.
