Enjoyed our time we spent at the Dewayne Hayes. The campground was clean and the hosts and attendants were friendly and welcoming. Great place to camp.

We love this location. It's not far from town. The attendant is amazing. The bathrooms are clean. It's also close to a restaurant called Little Kitchen...don't let the outside appearance fool you. The food was amazing.

This is the best campground we have been to so far. The RV sites are level, easy to pull into, spacious, and most are shaded. The park is well-maintained and beautiful. The bathrooms are clean and showers are great. The laundry rooms are no longer available, but the camp is close enough to town that a laundromat would be an option. In the 2 days we were here, we saw multiple deer, a family of opossums, an armadillo, a red tanager, big bass, bluegill, a black racer, and we heard an owl. I was even greeted by a cute, fat raccoon who came up close while we were cooking dinner, almost as if asking to join us. He stayed around and ate a handful of dog food we put out for him. There are fishing docks that are easy to access. The campground is kid-friendly and family-oriented. There were no issues with loud guests partying, so it was a quiet, pleasant place to relax and enjoy nature. Bring plenty of mosquito spray, though! We look forward to returning again.

We have been going to Dewayne Hayes for years and like it very well.never had any bad experiences. I do wish they would open up the laundry room again.everyone needs it.

Nice campground with large sites. All have water and electric hookups, a few also have sewer hookup. Bathhouses could use updating along with adding at least fans during the hot days. The under growth needs to be taken care of to open more sites to the river for better views. Repaving of roads would make biking better as well. Overall it’s a good park for short stays. Town is close by for easy access to stores and restaurants.

From Columbus, Mississippi, take U.S. Highway 45 north to the junction with U.S. Highway 373/50 west. Turn left and continue for 1.5 miles to the junction with Stinson Creek Road. Travel 2 miles to Barton's Ferry Road and turn left. Proceed a half mile to the park entrance.
The campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 45, which is approximately 5 miles east, and U.S. Highway 373/50, which connects from U.S. Highway 45.
Elevation: 53 feet
9.1 mi drive to downtown Columbus (about 18 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Reservations cannot be made at the campground gate house.
- Campground gates are open; there is an emergency exit for campers
- Visitor hours are;
- Sites are avalible for reservation. All reservations must be made by using Recreation.gov.
- LOCAL CAMPING POLICIES A limit of 8 people per site. The America The Beautiful Senior and Access cards are accepted at this campground for discount camping. When making a reservation only one card can be used on one reservation. If multiple reservations are made with one card one reservation will receive the discount and the others will have to pay the full price upon check-in. A camping extension is no more than 14 additional camping days beyond a camper’s initial 14 day camping limit. For each camping extension granted, a camping party cannot exceed 14 days per extension and can only pay for 14 days at a time. Peak Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay one extension is allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during peak season (March 1- Sept. 15). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. If camping on a prime site the camper must move to a non-prime site after the initial 14 day stay. Off Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay no more than one extension will be allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during the off season (Sept. 13 -Feb. 28). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. Length of stay on a prime site during the off season remains limited to 14 days. A camper may stay on a prime site 14 days, and move to a non-prime site for 14 days. Extensions beyond the 14 day limit will not be granted during major summer holidays. Please turn in all passes to the park attendant when leaving the campground. Only empty boat trailers are allowed to be parked on grass.
