About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. This has become my favorite campground. I hesitate to give it the rating it deserves because I don’t want word to get out and not be able to book! Anita and Jackie are the BEST camp hosts. The park is perfectly clean, quiet, and well spaced. LOVE!

Campground was nice. Disappointed that they will not let you check in before 2pm even though no one was in the spot the night before. Also, no washer/dryer setups which is unusual. No playground equipment for kids.

Went on a quick weekend trip with my son. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Although the day use and beach area were closed because it was off season, we still had a fantastic time. We saw plenty of deer and other wildlife. The grounds are clean, well kept and quiet. We will definitely be coming back.

Camp hosts were very rude and continually excluded the speed limit in their 4 wheeler.
Garage bin is OUTSIDE the camping area. Very inconvenient to have to start the car and drive 2 miles to throw away 1 bag of garbage!!

  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • THE SWIM AREA IS CLOSED IT WILL OPEN MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Alcohol is not allowed in Recreation Area. Campground has a two tent maximum per single site. Two vehicles for campers only are included in the site fee. There is a $10 fee for additional vehicles and visitors that will be collected at the campground. Entrance office hours are Mon - Thur 12 pm to 4 pm and Friday - Sunday 9 am to 5 pm., . The Day Use Area is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. After-hours access is available by calling ahead, (205) 300-1513. Office hours vary August to October please call ahead. Day Use closes after Labor Day.To see what our campground has to offer you can tour it Monday - Thursday during office hours. A $10 refundable fee if you are out within 30 minutes.
