About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. We were here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The sites are spaced out nicely and level. It was quite and peaceful. Clean and well maintained. Hope to go back soon.

Camped with two other couples. We love Corinth however, the picnic tables needs attention. They either need to be replaced or someone come in with a planer and smooth them out. One table could not be used at all because of it being in such bad shape. We did have to place a cloth on the seats of the ones that we did use to prevent splinters in the butts! The host stated that she could not do anything about them because they are too heavy to move.

Off the beaten path, no highway noise. The drinking water is excellent, sites level, ATT cellular -5G & supports streaming. No over the air TV. Really dark at night , nice view of the night sky and the fireflies were busy last evening in the firefly loop. I was a kid the last time I saw so many Fireflies. Super relaxing and very enjoyable

  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • THE SWIM AREA IS CLOSED IT WILL OPEN MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Alcohol is not allowed in Recreation Area. Campground has a two tent maximum per single site. Two vehicles for campers only are included in the site fee. There is a $10 fee for additional vehicles and visitors that will be collected at the campground. Entrance office hours are Mon - Thur 12 pm to 4 pm and Friday - Sunday 9 am to 5 pm., . The Day Use Area is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. After-hours access is available by calling ahead, (205) 300-1513. Office hours vary August to October please call ahead. Day Use closes after Labor Day.To see what our campground has to offer you can tour it Monday - Thursday during office hours. A $10 refundable fee if you are out within 30 minutes.
