Deerlick Creek is praised for its beautiful, peaceful setting and well-maintained campsites, offering stunning views of the river, ample privacy, and clean facilities. Many guests appreciated the friendly hosts and easy online booking, while enjoying various amenities such as hiking trails and excellent cell service. Some minor issues included occasional locked gates and maneuverability challenges for larger campers, but overall, visitors expressed a strong desire to return.

This was our third stay at Deerlick Creek. This time we were in the almost perfectly level site 15. Like most of the sites, 15 is clean and spacious and reasonably well separated from neighbors. Do note however that 15 is built a bit more on the downslope to the water than some other sites, and several of its trees have been blown and/or cut down, so there's less shade than we would have liked, and there are zero good hammock-hanging locations.
On our first night, a copperhead invited itself into our screen room for awhile, so be mindful of snakes.
Something to note well: The gates are locked from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and unlike many other campgrounds, there is no gate code or attendant or any other way to come and go, so plan accordingly (e.g., no late-night or early-morning events in nearby Tuscaloosa). Because we didn't pay close enough attention to this fact, my wife had to miss her bike race that was thirty minutes away and started at 7:00 a.m. I feel like 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. is more reasonable, and other than calling 911, I'm not quite sure what one's supposed to do should a medical or other serious situation arise when the gates are locked.
Other things to note:
* There's no camp store or the like, so be sure to bring everything you might need.
* There's only one bathhouse, which isn't adequate for the size of the campground, but it's always very clean.
* As far as I can tell, all the sites (including the six tent-only sites) come with water, electricity (50/30/20 for the RV sites), a fine-gravel area, a fire ring, a grill, a lantern hook, a small rustic wooden table, and a picnic table. Some RV sites also have wood decks. The amenities list claims there are sewer hookups, and maybe some sites do have them, but I've never seen any.
* There's a laundry room in the bathhouse, but it's for staff use only.
* There's really not very much for kids to do, so families should bring plenty of entertainment options or look for more kid-friendly campgrounds.
