Remember that his is an outdoor experience subject to weather that makes travel difficult. The trails are well marked, but you can still lose them in heavy snow and drifts. BLM provides stoves and lanterns, but the fuel, toilet paper, fire wood, etc. is on you. The cabins are well made and warm, and they usually have a view. Be courteous to others and pull over for dog teams and skiers.

BLM does great work maintaining the trails and making sure the tools like axes and saws are in working condition at the cabins. They are responsive to problems pointed out in the journals. Overall, the cabins are a fantastic resource, and they have been appreciated by me by bike, by skis, and by dog team. Thanks BLM!
