The place is wunderfull but there is nobody to help you to prepare your travel, nobody to answer your question (accessories in the cabin, address to check in, address to buy different things, type of hiking to the place ... Recreation.gouv needs to improve the help for travelers.

We had an amazing time at the Viekoda Bay cabin! We had a zodiac, which was very useful for pretty much everything that involved leaving the cabin. It was quite necessary to keep an eye on the tide; we almost got stuck with tide changes a couple of different times, particularly when we took the zodiac up inlets. It was fun to explore the nearby little islands (which you can walk to at low tide, but plan on getting wet), nearby creeks, and around the bay. There was abundant wildlife, and the sea otters and seals entertained us from the porch. The cabin was very well maintained and fitted out quite well with things that past visitors had left.

We have been going to this cabin for close to 20 years, and we keep asking for a sight glass or means to dip the tank. It's very frustrating not knowing how much fuel is in the tank, even though we bring in 15 gallons for 10 days. The stove needs work as well, and the stack needs a different cover. If the wind blows just right, it will blow out the stove, and by the time you realize it, there is a puddle of fuel on the floor and in the bottom of the stove. If someone isn't very knowledgeable, this could start a fire.
These are all things we have brought up for YEARS, and no one is listening.

Trip was cancelled due to Covid-19. I have tried following their directions for a refund prior to the trip and now after. The web site will not allow me to do so, it just gives an error message saying that "something went wrong, try again later". I have sent two emails and called twice and left messages. Still no response.

There are no roads or maintained trails in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. All cabins are accessible by float plane. Blue Fox Bay, Uganik Island, and Viekoda Bay are also accessible by boat. Refuge employees cannot assist in making travel arrangements, but can provide a current list of charter operators permitted to transport customers into the refuge. To obtain this list please contact the refuge headquarters at (888) 408-3514.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
