Wonderful experience, We loved the area and the cabin suited our needs perfectly. The only comment I would say we had to really clean out the wood burning stove to get it to burn and the chimney needed a good sweep. None of this was a destractor and we will definitely stay here again.

The cabin is dry and tight. Be ready to split wood. And make some small kindling. If you are boating you’ll need to anchor at least 85 + yards from the cabin out in the water. Or, you’ll be grounded at low tide. We used a kayak to paddle into shore after anchoring.

The cabin is accessible only by boat or float plane, at any tide, and is located on the south side of Beecher Pass on the north shore of Woewodski Island. From Petersburg, the cabin is 17 miles by float plane or 20 miles by boat. The boat route from Petersburg is over protected water, but includes one passage where attention to channel markers is essential. The route from Wrangell crosses Sumner Strait, which can be very rough in windy weather. Boats can be anchored anywhere in front of the cabin.

General
- This facility is located in an extremely remote and wild area; before making a reservation, become aware of bear, water, and weather safety (including cold)
- Recreating in Alaska can present both obvious and hidden dangers; please be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for extended stays due to occasionally poor weather
- Strong north winds can occasionally make anchoring in front of the cabin difficult
- There is a source of fresh water near the cabin; guests must boil or treat water before drinking
- Firewood at the cabin is supplied only for heating the cabin, it is not for outdoor campfires; collect dead and down wood from the forest for your outdoor campfire
- Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is not allowed
- High levels of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) have been recorded in this area
- All garbage and food must be packed out
- Please report missing or damaged items to the Petersburg Ranger District
- Learn more about Tongass National Forest
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by purchasing firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit don'tmovefirewood.org.
- The invasive European Green Crab (EGC) has been found in southern Southeast Alaska and is suspected to be in more locations on the Tongass National Forest. Please actively look for and report EGC to help map the distribution and contribute to management.
