Guests enjoyed their stay at the Aialik Bay cabin, praising its stunning views of Holgate Glacier and the surrounding natural beauty. Some issues were noted, such as a lack of sleeping platforms and difficulty starting the propane heater, which could have been better communicated. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Aialik Bay cabin. I don't recall seeing anything in the cabin information on the site or photos that no sleeping platforms or bunks were provided upstairs. It would save been nice to know that ahead of time. We couldn't get the propane heater to start in the cabin. We let one of the park rangers know we happened to see as we were leaving. Otherwise we had an amazing time!

A true hidden gem amongst the Fjords. The cabin is set atop a bluff overlooking g a stretch of beach with the perfect view of Holgate Glacier from the front porch. The side of the cabin is visible from the water if you know where to look. Tent Camping is not allowed within 500 feet of the Cabin, but one may experience daily neighbors as it is a popular beach for launching kayaks with local companies. The trickiest part was getting the propane heater started. We had rented kayaks from Adventure 60 North who delivered them to our Water Taxi through Miller’s Landing. Be sure to keep your InReach on for your day of pick-up as updates from the Water Taxi may come through throughout the day. The wind sweeping down from the glacier made kayaking impossible.
No signs of bear around the immediate area of the cabin which means they are not associating the cabin with food. Well done!! Lots of berries surrounding the Cabin in August!
The “Outhouse” is accessible with the “Wagbags” Park Staff provides. There was toilet paper in place, but you can never be too careful. Once the daylight starts to wane in August, a lantern + flashlights is a big assist. Bring cooking items (stove, pots, utensils), bedding, lighter, water.
A bear box is located near where the water taxis drop off.

We had a great trip (aside from rain the whole time!). The cabin is great, very roomy and has a nice heater. The beach was beautiful and the kayaking was wonderful.

The heater in the holster cabin stopped working. It probably needs a new pilot light. There was enough propane.
I had it working for the first day but not the second night.
