Salmon Lake Cabin Sitka

Such a cozy little cabin. Trail was in excellent condition out there. Loved our 1 night stay.

Such a cozy and well maintained cabin! The little boat is such a fun way to explore the surroundings, and the trail beyond the cabin is a fun day trip as well. Perfect way to spend Thanksgiving :)

This is a magical place, I try to go every year on my birthday. Bring a head lamp the cabin is dark, fire starter, a chair, and your trout pole !

The cabin and the location are lovely, and all was clean with dryish wood available when we arrived.

The stove needs new firebrick to reduce the amount of smoke it emits into the cabin, but other than that-- all is in great shape!

It was great, the cabin was stocked with dry firewood and some propane for the camp stove.

Great location and facility. Lake could be to0 short for a heavily loaded aircraft. I cleaned the windows, emptied the stove ashes, took out a considerable amount of trash, and swept accumulated dirt from under the bunks. Unfortunately your "guests" aren't good at helping take care of the facility.

Awesome, dry, and clean cabin! The wood stove worked well, although with high relative humidity it was difficult to dry our gear out even with the stove running all night. If rain is in the forecast it's definitely worthwhile to bring extra base layers. A few of the bug screens could use replacement, but that wasn't a big issue for us.

Lot of bear sign on the trail up to the cabin, but thankfully we did not encounter any bears. Boat looked to be in nice shape although we did not use it. Hike to the muskeg is flat and straightforward following the trail, hike to the alpine southeast of the cabin is a steep bushwhack with only game trails to follow, we found it easiest to start north of the cabin and work our way southeast.

Such a beautiful spot! Cabin was left very clean for us which we appreciated. Seems like firewood may run out/down so plan accordingly. New flat bottom boat great for fishing. Lots of bear scat so be prepared. Loved it!

Hard to beat it. Snow was much heavier in the narrow valley than in town. Highly recommend skipping the first part of the trail by paddling up into the estuary at high tide.
