Caldwell Cabin

Another wonderful stay. There was a water issue but the Recreation Management Specialist was very responsive to the problem, even offering to drive 2 hours to bring water on a Sunday night. Since the cabin is off-grid, I had satellite communicator as well as satellite with my cell phone that greatly helped get the issue addressed quickly. The contact number was posted on the entry gate.

As always wildlife in the meadow and surrounding area. Elk, deer and wild turkeys. And 'quacking'. Took a couple of hours listening to the quacking to realize it was from frogs, likely an Arizona Tree Frog, and not ducks. At night was a seemingly different species of frogs began to croak. All in all a welcome sound.

Many different species of wildflowers were blooming in response to the monsoonal rains.

The cabin itself was clean. The new furnishings added to the cosiness of the cabin in the woods.

We have been here many times and always enjoyed the experience. I like that they replaced the stove and mattress. The cabin was clean. Wish that they had more cleaning supplies, like a vacuum that worked or a mop that had a handle. Would make it easier to clean up after the visit. We have found that taking FR26 off of 191 is the best way---GPS sometimes tries to route you another way that has worse roads.
We love playing card games on the porch after spending the day biking or hiking. The sunsets are gorgeous.

Cabin was very nice. Clean and in order. We did shorten our stay due to the weather. But look forward to coming back again.

The cabin has improved a lot since I last stayed in it the first time, 8 years ago. The range is much better and it seems little touches here and there have been made as well. The cabin is in a pristine area. Truly a beautiful part of Az with lots of outdoor recreation nearby. It seems the deer mouse population in the cabin is improving, although we did see one fat mouse on the wall outside the cabin. If we can get that under control, this place would be amazing to visit.

Absolutely in love with this cabin overlooking a beautiful meadow! So nice to get away from everything. Enough room to sleep a small army (8-9 by my count) but cozy enough for one! Very clean, simple but stocked with everything you need. Power and water worked great! Kitchen was stocked with the basics and hardest part was breaking up my nearly finished puzzle to leave! Sit back on the porch and RELAX and enjoy true solitude.

A lovely remote spot to chill and go back in time.

Comfy, cute cabin stocked with anything you could need. Beautiful setting. We were sad to not see any wildlife near the cabin but saw elk and antelope on the way in. We will be back!!

The cabin is spacious, clean, and well equipped. The property is amazing!

Incredibly peaceful. Deer, bighorn sheep and the osprey nest along a couple dozen birds around the cabin made for a quiet, restful week. Great cabin.

Been to the Caldwell Cabin many times before & this time it went fine. I recommend driving the 25 minutes to Big Lake if you're interested in renting a boat or kayak. Also, be sure to stock up on everything you need in food & supplies as it's at least a 45 minute drive to Alpine or Eager.
