The site is open from mid-April to mid-November. There is no electricity available and running water is provided only during peak season. All roads are suitable for a sedan except during winter months. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

I/We have stayed at Kendrick Cabin many times over the past several years and it never disappoints. The cabin is frequently updated (new futons, new area rugs, solar lighting now instead of propane, for ex.) and almost all of its visitors leave it clean and are respectful of the privilege of using it.
The location is unbeatable, with beautiful sweeping views of the San Franciso Peaks, Kendrick Peak, the grasslands and smaller hills all around...
And there are so many nearby activities to enjoy and to introduce to visitors to our beautiful state.
This is a happy place for me and my family, and I am so appreciative of those who maintain it. I only wish it hadn't become so popular, because it's really difficult to book these days!

A great cabin but avoid in late fall. Leaky windows led to a cold night (16 degrees) even with the fireplace. Next time summer or fall.

Great out of the way place, yet not too far off the highway. Lots of forest service roads around the area great for mountain biking.

Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Our group enjoyed splitting firewood, cooking outdoors, hiking, games at the dining table, and a visit to the nearby lava cave.

Really like this cabin. The setting is lovely. It is a beautiful place to wake up and linger sipping coffee, playing games with your family, or letting the kiddos run wild. Obviously, it is a cabin, so don't expect luxury. It has a nice rustic feel. The only reason I withheld one star is because it is still within hearing of the highway, slightly, and the setting isn't quite as spectacular as some cabins I have stayed in.

We love Kendrick Cabin!! My daughter and I try to reserve the cabin every year.
There are excellent dirt roads to run on. (Heading east on the dirt road you came in on will take you to Sunset Crater. It takes a while and there are a few big ruts (monsoon season), but well worth the drive for the views.
Hikes we've taken include: Bearjaw, Abineau, Drive up the Snowbowl road and hike the Humphries trail, there are many, many trails on the Peaks. Some more difficult than others, but all with spectacular views!!
Don't forget to read the stories in the journal at the cabin. They are pretty funny. Some make good "ghost stories".
Such a great place!
