Great place to stop for the night. Make sure you show up during daylight hours and it’s not easy to find where the loops are when you first get there. The map on the board should have a big x that says you are here. Maybe I missed it. Loved the condition of the facility and learned a lot about petroglyphs!

Not a very flat site, but it was very big (site #3) and a pull thru. Very close to the campground gate to the rock site so you get a few people walking past/through your site. The opposite side of the campground has a better view, so you can either be close to the rocks or have a sunset view. There is no shade out here and no amenities other than pretty clean pit toilets. It’s a relaxing spot. A few trails. Good bike trail. Most sites are fairly spacious and only a farm semi ever half hour or so during the week, so pretty quiet. Can be a little windy.

The campground is accessible via Interstate 8, with the nearest exit being Painted Rock Dam Road/Exit 102, approximately 12.5 miles east of the campground.
