Under Canvas Grand Canyon offers a truly unique experience that stands apart from the typical Hyatt hotel. The stargazing at night was absolutely unforgettable, making it clear why this glamping destination is so popular, especially for those looking to escape urban life. However, guests should be prepared for the elements; days can be quite hot and nights very cold, with no climate control in the tents. For World of Hyatt members, it’s important to note that standard Globalist perks like free breakfast or room upgrades do not apply here. Despite that, the proximity to the canyon and the connection to nature make it a memorable stay!

We had such a good time at Under Canvas! The tents were clean and safe. We went in October so it did get a bit cold at times but the fire stove worked well. I do recommend bringing your winter coat and some other warm layers if you come after August just to be safe though. The view of the stars (+the stargazer tent) is the main reason we booked here and it did not disappoint.

The camp grounds itself was about 30 minutes from the Grand Canyon which was easy. We would get back around dusk and enjoy the amenities in the main tent. Live music, drinks/food, free smores, board games, etc. Staff was super kind and helpful with any questions.

Would definitely book at Under Canvas again when we visit some of the other national parks.

What a wonderful stay at Under Canvas at the Grand Canyon. The location was ideal and just south of the park. The “tent” was everything you need, the wood stove was put to good use with chilly night time temps. The tents are laid out for very private views. It’s a great community of guests hanging out in the communal tent with food, beverages and s’mores. Would love to visit to another Under Canvas location soon!

we paid 380USD for one night with own bathroom (that needs to be mentioned first so that you can relate to my thoughts).

Check in was smooth and staff was very nice. They walk you thru the entire amenities they offer and give you an introduction how to use the stove since it can get really cold.

We asked for a second comforter ahead of our arrival and it was not there. They offer power banks in the rooms in order to charge your devices (not all of them have USB C or are simply too strong for the device to charge - iPhone had troubles).

You need to know the person you are sharing the tent with very well if you are using the toilet :-) (not too much privacy). The little porch in front of the tent is basic and not really inviting for a bottle of red or to chill.

The main tent is nice but also very basic. Food was underwhelming (grilled carrots ok, red beats where out of the jar and tasted like that. The chicken flat bread was undercooked. They bring you the food but without cutlery if you are seated outside (staff could be more attentive). The dining area inside could use a litte love - cafeteria style.

They have cute fireplaces outside; however no one wiped off the chairs after the rain .... you need to do it yourself (don't get me wrong don't have a problem with it, however back to the attentive staff).

Would i stay there agian - NO, not for 380USD a night. I think its heavily overpriced - price/value!

If i would have paid 200 or less (with own bathroom) -maybe yes!

We really enjoyed our “Glamping” and it was hardly roughing it. The spacious tent had a wonderful bathroom/shower and in room mini- wood burning iron FirePot. The “dining/bar” tent was great and the food and drinks were excellent. Loved my skirt steak and salad, and the Falafel! Fun drinks, good wine, but beer is only in cans. They have some basic but fun “activities” like corn hole, yoga, arts and crafts, fire pits and snores! We had live entertainment (guy singing with a guitar) as well. Amazing star gazing! Everyone was great and everything was awesome. The only “complaint” was it was cold so we had to wake up every few hours to add wood to the in room firepot, and it took the shower a few minutes to get warm after - but these are very minor things to mention. Overall, this was an awesome experience!
