North Rim Campground (AZ)

The showers were cold. Ice ice (baby) cold. It was very disappointing to pay for a hot shower and it be very cold. Other than that nice campground

Ce camping est super, on va à pieds au Lodge et aux points de vue célèbres en 15 à 20 min environ. Mais juste en dessous du camping, à 50m, c'est déjà superbe. Notre emplacement était un peu trop près des toilettes (bruyant la nuit)

1 person tent camping for 3 nights beginning of Aug 2023. Check in was quick and easy right at noon. Water spigot and restrooms were close to the campsite. Restrooms were always clean during my stay. More RV's than tents while I was there. Neighbors were quiet. Overall enjoyed the campground.

We had camp site 075, and it was level and large. We have a 6-person tent and we had room for more. Water and bathrooms were super convenient. We hiked the Kaibab Trial down to the Supai Tunnel. Great hike, but you do share the trail with mules (including their excrement and flies). The trail drops 1400 ft. in 2-miles, so keep that in mind coming back up (take plenty of water & snacks). The Transept Trail from the campground over to the Lodge was a nice scenic hike, and you can get a good cocktail(s) at the Saloon there. Recommend driving to all of the lookouts in the area (especially Angels Window & Point Imperial).

This was my 5th time camping in the North Rim Grand Canyon since my first time in 1993. I have also camped at the South Rim 5 times.
I much prefer the North Rim over the South Rim because the North Rim is much less commercial and it’s quieter.
I do have a complaint I would like to bring to someone’s attention. The North Rim has a shower house that I have used every time I’ve been there. It costs $1.50 (in quarters) to get a hot shower. This time I went into a shower, put my $1.50 into the machine and turned the valve to the hot only to be standing there for the entire time it was running and it was cold all the way.
I went to a Park Ranger at the check in location and the young man told me it was not their operation. He told me the people who manage the country store were in charge of the showers and laundry. I went there only to be told they collect the money but they aren’t in charge of the showers. They told me ti go back to the showers and ask for a young man who was cleaning the showers. I told him about the cold showers and he told me they would refund my quarters ($1.50). He said two weeks before I got there people from the National park had turned down the temperature for both the showers but also the washers. I had reserved 4 nights but I left 2 days early because of the fact I couldn’t get a hot shower.
I wish the people who basically turned off the hot water would try taking cold showers!

Beautiful campground--and little generator noice!

We loved camping at the North Rim campground! It was well maintained - the restrooms were cleaned on a daily basis, easy access to and plenty of water, the showers had hot water!, the laundromat was opened!, and the general store had practically everything we needed for camping. All the hiking trails were spectacular and amazing! Most importantly, no large crowds to deal with. We will definitely go to the North Rim again.

One of the most beautiful National Park campgrounds, the North Rim was back to normal after the pandemic with showers and laundry. Still no kaibab squirrels like there were in the 70’s.

Great experience! We lucked out and got a cancellation just in time for out trip. The North Rim is much quieter and less busier that the more famous South Rim. We got in late at night and quietly set up. Everyone was already asleep... no loud parties or commotion. The showers were coin operated and the attendant was actually there to help and answer any questions. She was awesome! The little general store was about 100 yds away from our camp site and packed a bunch of snacks for hiking plus lots of other camping needs. I will definitely come back to the North Rim next time!!
