North Rim Campground (AZ)

This is our first time visiting the North Rim and this campground. Both were exceptional. We loved the higher elevation (i.e. cooler temps), forest, and hiking/viewing options. We visited the camp store a few times, once for an essential and a couple for ice cream! Shower facilities and restrooms were clean. The restrooms near our camp were closed, which was slightly inconvenient, but nothing worth complaining about. We'll be back as often as possible.

The campground itself was excellent. Clean restrooms, good space between camp sites, and during my stay everyone was respectful of the quiet hours. The camp store is well-stocked with various types of snacks and a lot of camping items that might have been forgotten, and is an easy walk from any point in the campground. And there's a terrific view of the canyon that is also accessible to a 1.5 mile walking trail to the visitor center. For the most part, the sites are well-shaded which is welcome in the summertime.

The outer ring of sites, including the one I stayed at, site 21, are on a very slopey part of the campground. It's difficult to find a relatively level place to pitch a tent and these are probably better served for people with trailers. If you have a tent, try to get something in either the dedicated tent area, which has tent pads, or the inner camp sites such as the 40s-60s.

Very nice place, near beautyfull hikes. Really recommended.

Camp host is great! Always making sure the rules are followed and it worked. Hats off the the host and the Rangers at the Check In Kiosk for going beyond the call of duty!

Friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful campground. The campsites were not flat though.

Good shade from all the trees around. Our campsite was big enough for our very large tent. If you are not tent camping, some sites are smaller and you need to check before booking that your RV will fit the site.

Spacious area for tent camping or an RV. For an RV choose a site L or R parking to accommodate. Bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks are spaced in the area. Quick access to the rim and the small grocery store, Water spouts in the campground are plentiful. High elevation and dry air - hydrate. Good experience.

Tent camping, the sites are far enough apart to not feel crowded. Facilities are clean and staff friendly and helpful.

Campground host was very helpful. We were close to the store and pay showers. Sites are nice and level.

The attendant at the service station was nice and the lady in the campsite registration booth was very friendly. The only complaints were the showers in the women's restroom were not working and several in the men's room were also out of service. We loved the proximity of our campsite to the canyon so we could easily walk to an overlook to watch the sunset.

We were at site 22 with easy access to the Transcept Trail (with immediate views of the canyon), and within easy walking distance to the hot showers and to the general store with (limited) wifi. We also enjoyed two ranger presentations.
