What Guests Are Saying
The North Rim Campground is highly praised for its spacious and well-maintained sites, beautiful natural surroundings, and proximity to the Grand Canyon views. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and the availability of a general store with essential supplies. Although there were some issues with water access and restroom cleanliness during a recent fire evacuation, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return in the future.

This visit falls at one year after the devastating fire that destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge and a number of other National Park structures. The losses are evident by seeing the many acres of burnt pines as we drove through the Kaibab National Forest to reach the North Rim. Our surprise was seeing patches of forest that did not burn. I am pleased to report that the North Rim Campground trees are still standing and still beautiful. The campground is open, however, with limited services. Bathrooms and showers were closed due to no water or sewer services. Portable toilets were placed around the campground. The small general store was open, having fresh water, snacks, and the usual general store stuff. At the time of our visit, there were no first come first served campsites for the park even though there were empty sites. Less than one quarter of the campsites were occupied. We had a good experience camping at the North Rim and will plan to return.

The North Rim campground is one of my favorite places to camp. The trees, the weather, the wildlife and, of course, the canyon. I feel proud to live in Arizona whenever I travel to this area and have the honor of staying at the campground. I'm greatly saddened by the loss of the lodge but so much wasn't burned, it's a miracle.

Nice campground. Large sites. Restrooms were closed due to water shortage, but there were port-o-potties. They were clean and well stocked.

Very desappointed ! Price 45$ per night ( others parks campgrounds are between 30 and 35 $) for no welcome, no water, and portable toilets not very clean and no paper…..ok it has been burned and we’re very worried for that, but it’s not a ground for giving it up, and we had the impression to pay for repairing. More expansive for less services…. And no explaination. Nobody, in fact to answer our questions… all others campgrounds in NP are nice.

it was so awesome to finally get to the North Rim. For us the lack of amenities was not an issue, we are used to roughing it when camping. I am very sad what the fire has done but I will say, the lack of people made the trip even better. We had no problem seeing the sites, we did a few hikes where we did not see another person. The wildlife was abundant: deer, bison, birds, wild turkeys, lizards.
There is no water so make sure to bring enough for drinking and washing. Only port a johns. They were kept very clean and stocked with TP.
Go see the Ranger, they had the Park stamp and Jr Ranger Books!! The General Store was also open with snacks, drinks, water and other goodies.

We were prepared with our own water as we knew there was no water in the park. Lots of ports potties available. Could see the sunset from the tent area of the park. Within driving distance to Royal and Imperial point, sunrise viewpoints. Be sure to stop in at Jacob Lake in for a meal on your way in or out of camp. Well worth it. Camp store closes at 4pm, too early!

The North Rim Grand Canyon Lodge is closed due to the Dragon Bravo fire, but the campground is open. No services like rooms, restaurants, water, sewer, etc. The campground was fairly empty so it was pleasant. No crowds at all on the view points. Saw a herd of buffalo. Bring water and everything you need with you. Jacob Lake Inn on the way to the North Rim is open so stop for the best cookies.

Despite some trails were closed and fire restrictions imposed This tent-only site and it’s location near the north rim was very enjoyable.
But I see that you/park service are adding 7 new camp sites closer to the rim. Packing these sites too close together ruins the tent-only experience in this area

Ranger Matt Baldwin at the info booth was so helpful. Excellent advice on where to hike. And inspired by that I’m hoping to do the Rim to Rim hike next October.
