Overall a nice, simple campsite. We usually do a site south of the rim, but decided to try Sinkhole to be closer to the lakes. Being a 5 minute drive from Willow Springs Lake and the rim lookout where super helpful. We even had wild horses come by one morning and hangout near our campsite.
Be aware: you are close to the highway and road to the lake, meaning you may hear some traffic and not feel fully immersed in nature like at other camps sites. There is very little to no cell service (T-mobile) so we had to drive to the rim visitor center. Many RVs at the site, so if you are focused on being amongst tents, I recommend a different site.

I have camped up on the Mogollon Rim many times. But this is the first time I camped out at the Sinkhole Campground next to the Willow Springs Lake. I was originally going to camp at the Gila Hot Springs campground, in New Mexico. But with the Black Fire only 10 miles or so from the campground, I changed venues! I was lucky to find a spot in such a short time. I found only one camp site and that was at the Sinkhole Campground.
Overall - this campground is wonderful. The setting, facilities, and camp host (Sharron) were perfect. The lake is incredible!
You can see a short video I put together of my trip on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF-pkgjBH5c
The only down side to this particular campground is that it is almost on top of Highway 260. So you hear a great deal of road traffic.
Other than that - I would highly recommend this camp site!

Great location and a wonderful host at this campsite. Took the wilderness trail that is located right next to the campground and saw some wildlife on a easy relaxing hike.

Although there were no flush toilets, the bathrooms were very clean along with the entire campground. The camp host was very friendly and nice. It was only 1/2 mile off highway but could not hear the traffic since it was down in the tall pines. 3/4 mile, nice walk, to Willow Springs Lake which was gorgeous! Felt safe and will stay again!
