Very nice campground. Sites are well spaced, large, and lots of shade. Facilities are clean and well maintained and the staff is very nice. The only downside is moderate traffic noise due to proximity to road. It does quiet down at night. This is the price you pay for being 10 minutes outside of town.

The camp site was good and the host was good and friendly. Am so disappointed that you have opened up the horse camp area to people without horses. I had a family of two camped right behind my site with about 6 small children and they kept running over to my horse pen and screamed the whole time. People with horses have kids too, but they are taught to behave around horses. I use to come up quite often years back but the trail system has really gotten back because they have let the ATVers in and they are tearing up the trails and the forest. So sad.

Area was beautiful!! Restrooms couldn’t of been cleaner. They didn’t have soap, but hand sanitizer outside. The hostess was very polite. We had some wild Havelina visit the campsite, but scattered once they heard us. The only thing that bothered me was the road noise. Very loud and started early. With that said, I’d stay there again.

We stayed in the Black Bear loop, site 25, on a Thursday night, and it was great! There's a little trail going through the trees leading from the parking spot to the campsite, which made the campsite feel very secluded and peaceful. We could hardly see the other campsites from our site... mostly, the view consisted of tall trees (perfect for hanging a hammock), manzanitas, and a million stars. There was some noise from the road, but it wasn't bad/a small tradeoff for the convenient location practically right in Payson.

Fantastic area with many great homes nearby. Showers are closed and restrooms at the campground are limited due to Covid-19
