What Guests Are Saying

Ponderosa Campground offers beautiful, spacious sites surrounded by tall pines, making it a favorite for many campers. The hosts are friendly and maintain the campground well, ensuring clean facilities and a pleasant experience. However, some sites experience noise from the nearby highway, and concerns about tree removal for maintenance could impact future visits.

Kudos to the campground staff! The place is immaculately cared-for, even to the point of raking the camp sites. It was almost as if we didn't want to walk on the site because we would leave tracks! The bathrooms are spotless and cleaned at least once a day. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional.

The only issues I would say to watch out for are some of the sites are a bit cozy and bigger rigs may have a hard time getting in. Also, the site we were in (B-04) was on a pretty good grade and we had a little fun getting our 26' Cougar travel trailer level. This is typical of many of the sites so choose carefully.

The campground has no services (water, electricity, sewer) but it does have a dump station, which is not advertised well. It'll cost you $10 on a card but that's better than the alternative.

Altogether, a great little campground and only about 15 minutes east of Payson, Arizona. Did I mention that the staff are great?

Beautiful and very well kept. Beth our camp host was fantastic. Restrooms were kept very clean. It would have been a 5 star but there were quite a few bees. I was stung twice. They only came out for the most part if you left an open can of soda out otherwise just 2 or 3 flying around.

Great camping spot not crowded like Aspen at Woods Canyon Lake and they have bear proof containment boxes for food storage.

Absolutely loved our stay here. I think our site was one of the best in the park. Camp host was very personable and efficient. Bathrooms were very clean and very little odor. The bear boxes to us were a major plus so we didn’t have to repack the camp every time we went hiking or fishing.
