We had a good experience at Koomer Ridge Campground. We met some nice people and pets. The only drawback was the lack of shower facilities due to water pipe break.

Spots were well constructed, spaced apart perfectly, and easy to access. I only wish the showers were open for the season. The weather was in the 60s and it was after April 1st.

The sites are very nice and spread out. The showers were not open due to delays with renovations. It would have made the experience better to have the showers open. It would have been nice to have designated hours for when you could buy firewood and ice as there were a couple times I was unable to buy any due to no one being there. Overall we enjoyed our time here!

When I got here, I was told by the ranger that Kentucky has issued a “STATE OF EMERGENCY” for the area and best to leave the area because of the weather. My wife and I left because of the high winds (tall trees swaying over our campsite), heavy winds with possible tornados.
We booked through Recreation.gov…and no recourse, no refund!!! I’m out $40!!!…they should make exceptions!!! So my advice is, don’t book too far ahead

The site was nice but way too close to the highway. Could hear vehicles all night.

Good campground with friendly staff. The only issues I’ve had is all the people coming in and just taking camp areas that have already been reserved by others. The area is very convenient for several trails in the area and of course it’s nice being close to Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge.

Nice campsite. When we got there, it looked like someone had used a leaf blower to clean off the gravel pad. There was some distance between our campsite and neighboring campsites — we weren’t on top of one another. Potable water spigot was close to our campsite. The latrine was a short walk.

Camp hosts keep this campground in spectacular shape. Clean, tidy and organized.

Great wooded campground. The camp spot includes a flat area for your tent, a large picnic table, and a metal fire pit. The only downside would be that you can sometimes hear trucks on the interstate when they hit the rumble strips.

Site 46 is a bad site to camp during busy season. It right next to parking lot and during the night people headlights would shine through our tent. It right there next to busy trail.
