Initially, our site was steep. We were able to trade for a More Level site which was conducive to having a camper trailer.
The campground hosts worked well with us.
We knew ahead of time that the restroom was being renovated, but pit toilets we're available.

The campground is very nice, with a mix of flat easy to use camper sites, and some more secluded sites as well. Some of which require a short (and sometimes a bit steep) climb to access. The drawback is it's close proximity to the Combs Parkway. There is the constant sound of traffic. It has no electricity, but a modern bath house. Unfortunately here we are at Memorial Day weekend and it's still not open, due to a contractor dragging his feet on the re-tile.

We arrived at Koomer Ridge in May to find the bath house closed. While the rec.gov site currently has the closure alert, the USDA site does not, and when the reservation was made in January there was no closure alert. Rec.gov sent many reservations reminders but none mentioned the bath house closure. Why couldn't they include a change in status with the reminders? That said, the pit toilets were tolerable and needed to be pumped. We did not stay for our second night.

Campsite was clean and fairly well spaced from the neighbors. Our spot was also pretty big with a small decline in the driveway to back down but there’s space to get a teardrop camper leveled out. Close to two trailheads on the campgrounds.

Koomer Ridge has nice sites but the big draw to stay there is the bathrooms. Which have been closed more than open. I have been told they are tiling the bathrooms last year and this year. Won't be back until they get things together and the bathrooms are open.

Campground hosts were excellent, friendly, did a great job cleaning and maintaining sanitation facilities. It was a bit disappointing that the bath house was not yet in service as is usual at this time of year, due to contractors still completing some upgrades. Also, the lack of water throughout the campground due to a unrepaired water line break was an inconvenience. There should have been some notice sent to those having reservations about these conditions.

The campground was convenient to the places we wanted to go. The campground hosts were awesome…kind and helpful. The sites are large and somewhat private compared to other campgrounds. Summary- campground is beautiful, hosts were amazing, apps - map and description needs work.
