Hilltop was very quiet mid week for my 2 night mid June stay. I picked what I felt was the best off-the-road back in site, #30, since I slept in my truck bed with topper. It was private and had lots of shade. This loop has an easy access to the trail that leads down to the lake. The hike around the lake was scenic, easy and fun. I'm a birder and there were lots of birds to see in camp and on the lake trail. The only negative was multiple bits of micro trash that I cleaned up.

Our campsite didn’t have any tree cover, so the sun beat on our camper all day, making it very uncomfortable to sleep at night. Also, our campsite was overrun with ant hills! Only redeeming quality was we were a 5-10 minute walk to Lynx Lake and could get down there and start fishing before the vehicle gate was open.

Pit toilet odor is significant. I was tempted to file a complaint with the County health dpt. You need to clean the toilets more often and you should put chemicals into the pit to reduce/eliminate the smell. Don't forget that these odors are a direct result of harmful viruses and bacteria and are dangerous to health.

I've never been tp Prescott AZ, and arriving at hilltop camp ground was so beatuiful and sccenic. I was wondering about the fire restrictions and while I was setting up my campsite, a host came by and explained to me what that meant. He asked for me to smoke in my vehcile and only fires were allowed in the fire pit. I explained to him, I had no firewood for the night to cook, and he dove wood down to my site. The host of that campground was so helpful.

Great park that’s quite, plenty of shade and just a short drive to Costco and WalMart if you need ice or other supplies.
