Most of the water lines were shut down. Poorly maintained. Only one host active in the entire place. Restrooms only serviced one time per week. Lots of trash blowing around...Been coming here for years and this is the worst condition I've seen it.

We have been camping at cholla for over 15 years and it is one of our favorite places.. The last several times have not been as nice. Bathrooms are only getting cleaned once a week and they were not clean. The showers were not open. Larry ( the host in the cane loop) was great and maintained his area nicely. Never even saw the host in our loop (teddy bear). Fire pit was not cleaned out, micro trash and cigarette buts everywhere. Such a disappointment especially when there were so few campers there. I e-mailed the forest supervisor about this situation, but never received a reply.

The campground is Lovely. The views of the lake are fantastic. Campsites were clean, and level, had shade and a picnic table. There was enough space between my site and my neighbor, to not feel cramped.. The restrooms were clean, had a sink and a mirror, but didn't have soap, or a light inside at night. The main bathrooms had showers, but they were closed, due to covid. Which was a disappointment. I wasn't able to launch my kayak from my camp site, like i had intended. The water is low, and the decent to get down to it is Steep! That being said, it is only a 5-7min drive to the boat ramp. There is multiple parking lots, and even one very close to the boat ramp. Overall I would stay here again. (Would love the showers to open again.)
An avid camper.

This campground might be best for tent camping only. We were told this would be an appropriate spot for our pop up camper, but there was no place to pull into the actual camp site so we ended up having to set up right on the side of the road. The wind was pretty extreme all day and night as well which kept us all up until late. Also there were very loud neighbors up late and then playing music at 4am and talking loudly all night which also made it difficult to sleep. The campground also stated there was water available but we could not find any and so had some challenges washing dishes etc...

Site 51-Buckhorn. 30’ travel trailer, 2 vehicles. Beautiful secluded site. Lots of room. Bathroom was open but didn’t appear to be regularly cleaned. With showers closed due to COVID, seems like rate should be reduced. No water at closest spigot to site. Next closest very hard to operate and you’re gonna get a little wet. Overall good experience.

It is expensive relative to what you get for your money compared to most other campgrounds like this.

Beautiful campsite close to the lake. Hosts were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was quiet. Restrooms were clean, and we were pleasantly surprised to find free showers! We hiked in 6 wilderness areas in 6 days....what more could you want?
