We reserved a spot online only to get there and discover that the section we reserved in was closed. We also read on multiple signs that a pass was required to be displayed in the car window but no pass was emailed or provided through the online purchase. This caused for a stressful and delayed camping set up. When we finally found the camp host site he laughed when we said we reserved online. Thankfully the area had open spots and the camp host told us to just pick an even numbered spot. If there had not of been an open spot with a lake view I would have been so upset (that is what we reserved and expected). We were only camping for one night so the delay in setting up was aggravating. Also, the price online was higher than buying at the site. The site itself was beautiful though!!

This time of year Cholla Campgrounds was beautiful and relaxing. We had a great view of the lake and boats on it. Cost was a pricey for a spot with no hookups, besides water (when available). There were also bathrooms available that were clean and neat. Overall the site was well maintained and we would go back. Roosevelt Dam is a must see. Close by and easily accessible.

The weather kept us from going. Some family got washed out at a flooded crossing and perished. We will try again another time.

We visited Cholla the first week in November and the weather was excellent. The campground was mostly empty and there was almost no-one on the lake. We took the kids out on inflatable boats and hard shell kayaks and the kids had a blast. The solar showers cool of in the evening time so get your shower in while it is still daylight. The kids had fun at the playground and the hosts were excellent. We were the first ones to use the new reservation system. Only improvement I would say is recreation.gov needs a map of the campsite locations so it is easier to tell which camp site is which when you want to reserve multiple for a large group. The wife and I ended up driving up the week before to scout out potential sites where we would all fit. During our scouting trip we say a float plane doing touch and go's on the lake. It was a lot of fun.
