About Windy Hill Campground
Located on central Arizona's largest lake, Windy Hill offers great water recreation opportunities to the public. Because of its close proximity to the Lake, Windy Hill allows fishing, non-motorized and motorized boating, along with hiking trails. There are plenty of developed campsites available at Windy Hill, which allows for an easy, quick escape during any time of the year for families and individuals.

Great campground with lake views. Cliff dwellings are a must-see in the area, and the Globe-Young Scenic Highway was beautiful in the Fall.

We got a walk in site so it was private although there wasn’t much a water view as the site description said. Unfortunately, we went the weekend before the campground closed down for COVID and it was kinda concerning that they closed the bathrooms and had a porter potty which has a greater chance for virus exchange. Maybe it was a way to deter people from coming? Wish we were given a notice before because then we wouldn’t have gone. Other than that, not too bad of an experience but would choose the adjacent campground next time that at least has the showers.

The campground was virtually empty because of the time of year. We had beautiful views. We were on Squirrel loop. A couple of days it was a little windy and we couldn't have a campfire. We visited in late Jan. to early Feb. Our camp host was very helpful and friendly. Be sure to check out the cliff dwellings and if you have a tow, take the drive to Young. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay there.

Unobstructed view of Lake Roosevelt. Water access at this site. Clean restrooms and warm water showers. Pleasant informative camp host.
My non-major cell phone provider- service is best here at Coyote camping area at the windy hill.
Marina to the north and store With Gasoline to the south off AZ 188 both within 5 mi both with very good dinning choices at reasonable price.

This site is 6 mi southeast of historic Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: take State Route (SR) 87/Beeline Highway north for about 60 mi to its junction with SR 188. Turn right onto SR 188 for 33 mi to the junction of SR 88. Continue south on SR 188 for 4...
This site is 6 mi southeast of historic Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: take State Route (SR) 87/Beeline Highway north for about 60 mi to its junction with SR 188. Turn right onto SR 188 for 33 mi to the junction of SR 88. Continue south on SR 188 for 4 mi to Forest Road (FR) 82 (Windy Hill Recreation Site entrance). Turn left and continue for 2 mi to the site. The entire route is paved.
From the Globe area: take SR 188 north for 25 mi to FR 82 (Windy Hill Recreation Site entrance), turn right and continue for 2 mi to the site. The entire route is paved.

- Stay limit 14 daysMax trailer length is 32'. Length restrictions of 20 feet in Coati Loop. Rules and regulations are posted at all fee stations. Please read and observe.Please use trash receptacles or Pack it in, Pack it out. Sewage dump facilities are located across from Cholla Campground 8 miles north on Hwy. 188During June, July, and August temperatures reach well over 100° and many RV air conditioners cannot keep up. Fireworks are always prohibited on National Forest Land.
