I absolutely LOVE Cave Spring campground! I camped here as a child with my family over 50 years ago - oh my! And I will continue to return on a regular basis so long as I am lucky enough to reserve a site. It's clean, so beautiful, and most of the campsites have enough space between them so you don't feel like you're encroaching on your neighbor. The mature trees provide ample shade which in turn drops the temperature by several degrees. However, when camping in the summer and if the permanent concrete table is not under a tree(s), I do recommend a pop-up style shade cover because it can get a bit warm under the direct sun. Or just a wear a large brimmed hat! :-)

The campground was lovely,and well maintained. The layout of campsites was a bit confusing.
The campground hostess was not polite about approaching us about a concern. We were actually at our friends site when the hostess approached our car without any greeting or explanation. Then just aggressively started scolding us about a rope. We couldn’t even explain it was not our site until she finished telling us what was wrong.
I am sure simply telling us/them that hanging a rope was against the forest service rules. Left a sour feeling for us.

Everything was clean and the area is beautiful. Check in was friendly.
Road was very narrow with highly angled sites to try to get a trailer into, and the pads are literally attached to each other (two at a time) so we could hear our neighbors snore and chat from inside their rig. If you need your space this is not for you but we had a nice time.

Getting There
From Phoenix, take I-17 to Highway 179 north toward Sedona. Turn north on Highway 89A and continue for 11 mi into Oak Creek Canyon.
From Flagstaff, take I-17 to Highway 89A south. Follow 89A for 18 mi to Oak Creek Canyon.
Policies & Rules
General
- Oak Creek is very crowded, especially on weekends; it is best to come on a weekday and arrive early
- No radios or amplified devices allowed
- No hookups
- No horses allowed in the campground
- Motorbikes may only be used for entering or leaving campsite
- Check out the forest's campground description for specific information to Fish Your National Forest
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- No portable showers or toilets allowed in campground
- Showers are token operated only, they do not accept quarters.
- Campsites must be occupied first night of reservation
- Campsite cannot be unattended more than 24 hours
- Swimming and fishing access
- The camping stay limit in Red Rock District is limited to 7 days
