A wonderful experience. We did not want to leave.
The cabin is exactly what we wanted for “roughing it” in luxury, and our dogs loved the enclosed yard. Clean and inviting inside and out. Absolutely loved it.
There are other structures nearby, such as the visitors center and a bunkhouse. But on weekdays, the foot/vehicle traffic was very minimal and not a bother. Plenty secluded and peaceful.
Absolute bliss. We will be returning soon.

We had a nice time, but the cabin was very dirty when we arrived. The previous guests hadn't even taken out the trash. Took some nice hikes and enjoyed a visit to Summerhaven.

We all need to remember that it's a "Rustic Cabin". It's up to the people who stay there to clean up for the next guest. When we arrived there was dog hair in huge balls on the floor and dog hair on the couch. The kitchen had sticky stains on the floor and overall it looked as though no one had cleaned in awhile. We should work together to make it a more pleasant experience for all.
That being said there is a need for those in charge of maintenance to fix some major issues in the cabin. The door jam on the rear door has been broken, splintered by a break in, they just placed a strike plate over the hole. (Not secure enough to feel safe) The screens on the back windows have been ripped open by someone trying to get into the windows, you can see the hand prints in the dust. A couple windows have no working locks at all. The bathroom sink has been dripping since we stayed there a year ago. Mount Lemmon is under water restriction and even a small drip like this uses about 700 gallons over a years time. The outside security lights do not work. These simple fixes need to be done!
We all leave necessities there that we didn't use like toilet paper or dish soap, etc. This helps if someone forgets to bring something. In November we visited some friends and I left 2 packages of coffee filters there (200 filters) in Dec there wasn't a single filter in the place. I hope who ever took them reads this and realizes how NOT COOL that was! We can make the cabin a great place to stay but we have to work together. That being said enjoy your stay and leave it the way you would like to see it when you arrive.
