What Guests Are Saying
Bonita Canyon Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, clean facilities, and well-maintained sites, making it a lovely and peaceful place to camp. Hikers enjoy the breathtaking views and trails nearby, and the campground's quiet atmosphere enhances the overall experience. However, it has limited space for large RVs, no cell service, and some sites can be quite close together, which may be a downside for some campers.

Very quiet, extremely clean bathroom, very friendly host. All in a beautiful area. I liked that it is so small.

The campground was more than just well
Kept! The bathrooms were the cleanest I’ve seen! The grounds were really well kept. The camp host was really accommodating, informative and helpful!
Highly recommend this campground!

I drove a 4Runner and arrived at 9:00 PM in late Jan. Having read that cell service was not available in the campground, I downloaded the Apple map for Bowie region (I-10 to Bonita Campground, via 186) ahead of time. Between the map & road signs, it was easy to arrive. It was dry during my visit, but there are several dips on 186 that might get flooded; take precautions during rain.
Despite the limited amenities, the campground was very cozy and in great shape with plenty of potable water pumps. The bathrooms are very clean and were heated to 55 degrees F, which felt very nice when it was 40s & 30s at night. Of course, as “residents,” we’re all responsible for the cleanliness and respect for quiet hours.
You can hike from the campground to the Visitors Center (VC), which is a trailhead to the Chiricahua Big Loop and other trails. Depending on your campsite, you’ll be an estimated 0.8-1 miles through the Silver Spur Meadow Trail, which includes 2 small creek crossings. You can also walk along the road, but there aren’t pedestrian-specific walkways. Recommend checking with the VC for the latest weather/trail conditions before starting your hike.
I look forward to returning to explore more trails in the park and surrounding region (e.g. Ft Bowie, Wilcox wines, etc)!

First time back since the Bathrooms were finished; they are nice and clean. Tested out our Starlink mini and had successful connectivity. Beautiful campground as always.

A lovely, shaded campground along a flowing stream. The sites are tight, but ideal for tents or van, perhaps small trailers. We've stayed in the campground on four occasions and it has always been clean, quiet, and great for birdwatching. We love hiking in the monument, but parking is always an issue at the trailheads. I certainly don't support the effort to make this a national park to bring in more visitors. There is simply not enough space for any more cars.
