What Guests Are Saying
Bonita Canyon Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, clean facilities, and well-maintained sites, making it a lovely and peaceful place to camp. Hikers enjoy the breathtaking views and trails nearby, and the campground's quiet atmosphere enhances the overall experience. However, it has limited space for large RVs, no cell service, and some sites can be quite close together, which may be a downside for some campers.

A beautiful campground, quiet and peaceful with views of rhyolite. Site 12 is next to site 11 but is somewhat secluded and had some open sky - great for stargazing. Everyone is respectful and quiet.

Beautiful campground for small trailers, vans and tents. Pay close attention to site information and keep in mind that because of trees/rocks even though your rig can fit it - may be difficult to back a trailer into the site. This campground was built in the CCC era and is not for big rigs at all. We have a 21 ft tt and fit comfortably into site #20. We had enter and exit going in the opposite direction of traffic in order to back into the site, but its a small campground so it it was no problem. There are water spickets but they are not set up to fill fresh water tanks. No electric. Personally I would not want to bring anything bigger than a 25 ft trailer into the campground. There is a steep dip coming into and out of the campground - it looks like the hitch might bottom out but we had no problems. Host was very nice and helpful!!

This is a clean, well-apportioned campground. It is wooded, which would be nice in the summer heat, but we missed seeing the sky on our January stay there. The campground host was very nice. There is a standup grill, which would be great for cooking hot dogs, but is less good for making a marshmallow-roasting fire. The restrooms are of old CCC construction, but are clean and well-supplied. There are no showers. There is a nice 1/2 mile trail to the visitor center.
My only complaint about the campground was that the spaces are quite close together. Unfortunately, the campsite we reserved was right next to an RV that ran their stand-alone generator all day long. The DID abide by the 9 pm - 8:30 am quiet time, but it was still obnoxious the rest of the time. We ended up leaving before our reservation was finished to find a quieter primitive campsite on the surrounding desert.
