What Guests Are Saying
Bonita Canyon Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, clean facilities, and well-maintained sites, making it a lovely and peaceful place to camp. Hikers enjoy the breathtaking views and trails nearby, and the campground's quiet atmosphere enhances the overall experience. However, it has limited space for large RVs, no cell service, and some sites can be quite close together, which may be a downside for some campers.

Small campsites with no privacy - I almost set up my tent at the adjacent site by accident because they're so tight together. Each site does have a bear box. Headlights/flashlights from several sites down the road readily lit up my tent at night. Cramped bathhouse has one sink and no shelf to put your stuff while you're in there. There were only two commodes, which meant there were many times when they were full. No paper towels, only a hand dryer which was inexplicably mounted so close to the floor you either had to bend over or squat down to use it. The last straw was the wild turkeys roaming the campsite and loudly calling out to each other about an hour or so before sunrise. So no sleeping in. No cell coverage in the campground (or elsewhere in the monument) except for the mountaintop parking lots at the end of the drive.

Beautiful campsites. We have tents so can’t speak for RV use. The bathrooms were clean and had water/soap. The sites were clean. We were able to fit my old Nissan Armada and my friend’s Dodge Durango in the parking spot of spot 09. My other friend had spot 10 and her big truck took the whole spot at the location. No way two cars could fit. So just beware when choosing spots. Besides that it was awesome to go hiking early because we were already there. Echo Canyon with teens. And some of us moms did The Big Loop at sunrise and it was amazing. I would go back and I would definitely recommend this camp site. No issues. Follow the rules (Bear Country so store your stuff in their boxes or locked car) and keep it as clean as you found it. Enjoy!

Park is beautiful located at the base of the mountain and start of the valley trail.

Clean, well-shaded and quiet location. With about 20 sites and significant distance between sites, it was remarkably quiet. The noisiest experience was the flocks of wild turkeys that came into the camp (once at 5:00 a.m.) but it was a fun kind of wake up alarm. This sets the bar high for every other park campground...

Scenic campground. Well maintained with plenty of trees. Flush toilets and running water is the bathroom sinks an added bonus.
