Had a great time, camp hosts were great. Lake was close and actually caught some fish. Very clean campground.

We have reserved this Group Loop F in the past and were always satisfied, however, this time the CampHosts seemed to be trying to profit personally on our stay. Trying to charge fees which were already paid by us and constantly antagonistic about "New Rules & Fees" which were not covered on your website. Needless to say, we will still be reserving on Rec.Gov, but not going back to Whitehorse Lake.

They double booked an expensive site enforce me to move to a lesser one and did not offer anything complimentary in light of the misunderstanding. And staff didn't seem to know what they were doing

Camp site was very clean, easy to back my 17-foot trailer into, camp host are very nice. Almost perfectly level. Concrete table and steel fire ring with grill. I had a nice view of the lake; we went fishing early in the morning catching catfish and blue gill off night crawlers. Later that evening there were deer and phew kitties, the skunks didn't bother us. On the downside all three of the bathrooms close to us were close, there was one open a little walk away. Clean and well stocked with toilet paper. Overall, I will be going back. Nice place.

Clean, well maintained campsites. The host was very friendly and helpful. The campsites are a bit close to each other for a campground but we didnt have any noise or generators running close by so that didnt bother is too much. The lake is very beautiful, and the surroundings are pretty. We saw a wild horse and took a drive up to JD 'dam'. Be prepared to drive on unpaved gravel for about 25 minutes to get to this campsite - a higher clearance vehicle is recommended. The red soil will get into nooks and crannies of your vehicle that you didn't know existed. But I would camp here again.

Unfortunately, due to lack of snow melt and rain in the past few years, the lake looks more like a pond. But, we did still catch some fish and we paddle boarded which was fun and relaxing. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. There are families of skunks around so beware especially with your dogs. The only TERRIBLE part is the condition of the road to and from the park. Whoever grates road decided to create wash board conditions the ENTIRE 18 mi drive out. He grated it like this on the holiday weekend. It took us 1.5 hours to get back to the I-40 going 5-10 mph. It shook our trailer so badly that moldings were broken off inside and it caused our truck to have major engine problems on the way home. Our only guess is that this guy doesn't want anyone enjoying HIS national forest. He needs to be FIRED!

The lake was beautiful and the campground was pristine. However, much like the reviews I read before arriving, the dirt road leading to it was brutal. We visited in our RV and could only travel about 12 mph, so it was over an hour to travel the 18 mi from the 40 to the campground. Wowza. Still worth it but probably won’t go back with the RV.
