GeneralUSACE is planning the drawdown in a partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is expected to begin May 1, 2026, when the lake will be lowered to elevation 374. The lake is expected to reach this elevation by July 25, 2026, and will remain at this elevation until Nov. 1, 2026. The lake will gradually return to elevation 384, depending upon rainfall. During phase two of the drawdown, designated swimming areas within the parks will be closed. Boat access will be limited to a temporary ramp located at Ashley Creek Park. Water activities such as skiing, tubing and the use of personal watercraft will be prohibited. Boaters visiting the lake during this time are encouraged to use extreme caution due to shallow water and submerged hazards. The park was nice, had a great camping experience, until the trip home. When we were leaving the campground we hit a tree limb over the main road in and out, just about a1/4 mile past the campground. It broke the front ac unit on our fifth-wheel. I know, my fault, should have been watching and went to one side or the other. You’d think someone with the park would have it trimmed back tho. There’s no telling how many campers have been damaged by it.

Ended up here because Mt Magazine campground was full even booking two months in advance. Recommendation from folks there and so glad we stayed at Waveland Park instead!! Added a third night. Campsite was incredible. More for RV’s but we had level space for our tent on the ground. Campground was ultra quiet during the week. Relaxing sunsets, campfires, and star gazing. Perfect to recharge from hectic work life on a long road trip. Pretty convenient for nearby hiking. Showers were lukewarm at all times of the day so that was a bummer but literally our only minor complaint that resulted in…brief showers.
Still, for $20 a night, this was an absolute steal!!
Would highly recommend and will return if in this part of the country again!

Very nice camp ground - staff very friendly. Only issue we had was another camper trying to put his satellite receiver in front of our campsite. They were camped about 200’ away uphill.

It is apparent the rules the COE has is not even followed. I read the rules prior to staying and had no issue. Dogs not on leashes. When I see a dig chase the Ranger down the road it is apparent they don’t care to enforce rules. Rules are 1 car per spot, however some had 2 up to 5. Because of this the grounds are degraded. Tried to check in 3 times always a a sign saying out. Never saw them make rounds. Sad state for this campground.

- We have combined the Waveland and Outlet gatehouses to more efficiently serve you. We are using the Outlet area gatehouse only. It is located at the top of the hill directly in front of the project office.
- All sites are reservable.
- Park attendants are on duty.
- Certain areas of the lake and parks may close due to high lake levels or storm damage
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
