What Guests Are Saying
Cherokee Park is a well-maintained, peaceful campground by the Arkansas River, offering spacious sites and a friendly host. Visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, opportunities for birdwatching, and enjoyable river views, making it a great spot for family time and relaxation. Some minor issues include the need for grass cutting, bathroom updates, and occasional pest concerns, but overall, guests have had positive experiences and highly recommend the park.

Cherokee Park was well maintained and we were fortunate enough to get a site right on the river. We were there for the solar eclipse. We had a 50 amp hookup and water. The river was busy with boats and barges. Park has a dump site which was also well maintained. The park does have a day use area and playground, lots of people were fishing. Be mindful that most GPS directions will take your route under a railroad trestle (approx 13 ft.) , our class A would not fit, however there is a route through 1st street that takes you to a drive over railroad crossing.
I would recommend staying here, its great camping by the river.

Beautiful park with friendly host. We love to gravel bike and there are a lot of miles of gravel roads all over this area. Beautiful agriculture all along the Arkansas river from the park.

Pros:
Watched the eclipse here at full totality. Camp site had plenty of room between other campers. There were restrooms, electric hookups, and fire pits. The site boarders a cow farm, it was fun to sit and watch them roam around and graze.
Cons:
The Arkansas's river wasn’t much to look at. Doesn’t look ideal for swimming or kayaking. Small cargo ships travel on river throughout the night which sort of takes away from being fully immersed in nature.
Overall a good experience, and the campsite served its purpose with basic needs.

All our COE campgrounds in AR are great places to stay. The rates are very inexpensive. Bald Eagles, Red-headed Woodpeckers, Barred Owl—birding was good. GPS directions can lead you into tight neighborhoods and to low (9.5 ft) railroad underpasses so be careful. I had my best luck approaching from US40 exit 108—that kept me out of the neighborhoods and lead to a 13.5 ft rail underpass.

The campground is in a beautiful area. We had the pleasure of watching a tug boat go by. Getting into the campground was not my favorite. Our gps told us an empty field we were there. There are two roads that go under railroad tracks that were too low for us. At one we had to unhook tow vehicle so we could back out. Bath house is very very old.

Really nice park. Been on the road for months, arrived at this park at the end of the season or would have extended our stay. Quiet. Nicely kept. Campsites were spacious
