What Guests Are Saying
Joplin Campground offers stunning views, ample space, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great choice for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While the campground is well-maintained with helpful staff, there is a recurring issue with ants and some uneven terrain that could be challenging for larger RVs. Overall, visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and facilities, although some suggest improvements in pest control and road conditions.

The location is great - right on the lake, with sunset views. Nice to have a restroom and shower, but they were both quite dusty & had cobwebs.
If I'd been in an RV, I probably would have had a great time, but I definitely won't tent camp here again. Within hours of setting up, the ants were on EVERYTHING. I kept all my food & cooler in the car to deter them, but it didn't really make a difference. They even swarmed the inside of my tent in the middle of the night, crawling through the zipper and all over my sleeping pad.
I also tried setting up a hammock to sleep in, as the other bugs weren't too bad, but the trees must also be infested as ants crawled on the straps too. On the plus side, they weren't biting, just seemed to be searching for food.

Great park. Beautiful. However, the road repair in the park was absolutely horrible. Black tar and loose chips were encrusted on the bottom of my vehicle. This is very disappointing and unacceptable. Sloppy, cheap road repair. I’ve spent hours cleaning the underside of my vehicle and still haven’t been able to get it all off. I’m never going back.

Beautiful scenery. Campground host was very polite and helpful. I would recommend to take some spray to treat your camp spot because ants are so bad. Bath houses were very clean. People were polite and turned down their music at the prescribed time. Wildlife was plentiful. Deer would walk right up into your campsite. We will be back many times.

We put tent up. Went to get something to eat and came back. To lots of ants, I slept with ants even spraying to try to get rid of them. Had to buy 2 cans of spray to try to get rid of them. We packed up and left a day early. I hated it

Stayed in site #20B, which had washout on the driveway and was challenging to back the 30 ft. camper into the spot. Couldn't quite get the camper level side to side with the slope of the site. Utilities were fine (water/electric), but the camper awning and "front porch" looked right into another site and was very visible from the road. We won't use this one again. I know the COE is supposed to make some infrastructure improvements but I'm doubtful. Over half the campsites are not improved, very unlevel, they do have electricity, but the water comes from a congregate site, which mean filling up your tank and hoping you don't run dry. Also, only one dump station that needs new hoses/fittings for rinsing black tanks...and it's been this way for several years. Bathhouses are fine, kept clean, and while old, fill the needs. Overall...it's time for upgrades!

The ANTS were horrid! No food out either. They got into the tent, into the beds, into the locked cooler in the locked car! Rented 3 nights, stayed 1.

Water close by. Uneven parking area but who cares when you have a view like that. Felt like we had our own little beach. Awesome sunsets
