Beautiful campground with nice creek running through it. Camp sites are well spaced and have good amenities, better than many usfs or usace campgrounds. Close to a DG and food. Only thing I might suggest is adding a small playground.

Nice park. Very well kept and easy access. They could use a light on the sign as it is very dark after sundown. The bike/hiking trail is for experts only. very small and rocky. I would not recommend for biking.

We were at site 8 in Loop C. The campground was peaceful and sweet. Good hiking and great swimming. Plenty of space to explore. The site next to us was uncomfortably close, I believe it was site 9. It would have been a great pair of sites to book with friends. We only used the bathrooms a few times, but thankful for the sewer hookup option! We loved the short trip to Hot Springs while we were there, we went and played mini golf at Pirate's Cove. Very fun for our large family.

Great stay. I have been camping at Charlton for over 50 years. The park is in as good a shape now as it has ever been. The park staff is doing a great job of taking care of the park. Charlton is one of our favorite destinations.

love this place but absolutely do not like that it's reservations only. Would be great if only maybe half were reservable and others first come first serve. I know people that pull in and realize it's gone to onliine reserve. I had alot of trouble reserving on line. I called Womble and Tim helped reserve for me although there were some snags with him as well but finally reserved it. We volunteer at Camp Clearfork across the street. Rumor has it that it may go to online reserve as well..certainly think this would be a big mistake.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed two nights in the Charlton Recreation area's B Loop. There is a well maintained restroom/shower house that was plenty adequate for campers' needs. Not luxurious, but very adequate, especially at that price point. The campsites were clean and well kept, and the reservation process (once I figured it out) was fairly quick and easy. I will definitely stay there again.
