What Guests Are Saying
Joplin Campground offers stunning views, ample space, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great choice for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While the campground is well-maintained with helpful staff, there is a recurring issue with ants and some uneven terrain that could be challenging for larger RVs. Overall, visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and facilities, although some suggest improvements in pest control and road conditions.

The location and views are amazing. The nearby crystal shops and trails are some of the best! The park rangers and host were very helpful when our antique Vanagon couldn’t handle the slanted campsite we booked and they moved us with no issue! The only thing I would complain about is the nonstop bombardment by ants anywhere on the peninsula. They weren’t aggressive, but they invaded every little nook and space they could crawl into, we are still finding them in the VW despite all efforts.
Definitely book an RV or camper space if you’re worried about staying level!

Very enjoyable campsite #26 the week of July 4th. Not crowded and as long as your campsite is one of the spots improved by the COE about 5 years ago it's great. They still have multiple spots that are not level (or anywhere close) and while all have electric, many do not have water access or must share with a neighbor via hose splitter. Oh and we had very low water pressure that week

There are Pros and Cons to every campground. On the PROS side, the campground host was just so polite and very customer friendly. The campground itself if very well maintained and has electrical and water hook-ups on most sites. Some basic groceries can be purchased fairly close by. Also, the WI-FI is fabulously available anywhere in the campground. Shade is pretty much everywhere which is also very good to have in our brutal temps & humidity. On the CONS side, the worst part of my recent stay was the unable to control population of ants. Some campers actually left because even in their RV, they were swarmed by the amount of ants . I used spray to try to keep them away, but it only helped a little. The terrain is also pretty difficult in that most of the campsite are hilly and you have to go up and down a fairly steep grade to get to the water and out of the water to any campsite. Water access for swimming was not great in that most site had a lot of trees and shrubs at their water access. There is a great swimming area that is very nice. Another con was that I could not get my paddle board and kayak from the site to the water because the terrain was too rocky and steep. It wasn't safe to haul them in and out of the water. The most significant cons for me were the unbelievable amount of ants and really difficult access to the water from the campsites. The most significant pro for all of my family was having really good wi-fi.

Great place to launch from. You have an excellent view for sunset over the lake. Site slopes from right to left so a little effort needed to level the rv.

We really enjoyed our stay at the park. Had a nice pull through site with great views. However that’s where it ends. The road leading into the park as atrocious it badly needs replaced. The main roads in the park were horrible as well. Something needs to be addressed and soon. The bathrooms were never cleaned the week we were there. Sure someone ce and made sure trash was dumped and there was paper towels and toilet paper but that was it. The boat ramp is basically non usable. We went to the harbor resort to put our boat in. We will not be back to this campground.

Site was huge and had a great view of the lake. Bathrooms were close and clean. Not the best spot for fishing or paddleboarding if those are your goals but still beautiful and would definitely recommend!

The view makes up for the lack of amenities. Specifically, no site water only a community water spigot. But the view was awesome.
